how old is too old to trick or treat?

someone asked me that this morning and i honestly didn't have an answer.

what do you think is too old to go trick or treating? personally, i don't two shits if high school kids still do it, as long as they're dressed up. i think out of high school, you should have better things to do with your time... and so i think that would be my answer.

but some people think jr high is too old. and high school is definitely too old. i just know they're doing it for candy. i mean, who the hell doesn't want a pillowcase full of free mother f'n candy???? they aren't dummies. but a costume is a must. you know?

so what do you think?

Tough. But, tonight, I saw some dark figures (kids) coming down the street toward my house...and I hadnt had anyone in like 45 minutes.. and these "kids" were um.. tall for kids...So I turned off my light. In my head, I thought "how rude! They're obviously too old!" But, how old is that? Hmm.. maybe like 12? I think through 5th grade is probably fine, but beyond that, no more.

Guess there's no "set" answer to that question. I suppose it depends on the "kid".
I went trick-or-treating with some friends my freshman year of high school. Basically, it was just for the fun of trick-or-treating. We really didn't care much about the candy, cause you could always trick-or-treat from the giveaway candy at home. LOL
And we dressed in actual costumes, not just like some who carry bags and are like: 'It's Halloween. Give us stuff.' Y'know?
I guess it's viewed different through the "kids" p.o.v. and the adults p.o.v. cause when I see "older kids" trick-or-treating now, it's odd. But as long as everyone has fun and nobody does any harm...what the heck. :)

We went our freshman year of college, we were poor, and we wanted some mother f'n candy.

I dressed as a poor colleg student with rags on my feet and holey jeans and such. Some people that it was hilarious, some people got mad at us. It was all in good fun though.

It's funny, we were giving away candy last night and the little kids were awesome. They got lots of smiles and "awwwwws" out of me. Then came the high school girls dressed as slutty referees and I stuff and I was thinking, what the hell are you doing? You're way too old... go wear your slutty costume at a house party like everyone else your age!

I saw a FB comment last night that was perfect: If you're old enough to smoke - you're too old to trick or treat.

My son is in high school and he walked the neighborhood with friends, but I told him that since he wasn't dressed up he couldn't trick or treat. He was fine with that and had a good time.
