how the hell do you stay at home mom's

freaking do it?!??!?!

are your kids easy to entertain or something?? do they leave you alone? do they play by themselves?! or are you just super mom's with lists of fun and exciting things to do everyday???

this whole staying home during the summer, while i have no job and no money, is totally sucky. blake gets bored super easily. i mean, SUPER EASILY. he can't really self entertain. he can occupy himself for maybe 2 hours at the very most, and then he needs me around... or wants me around.. and wants to do things all the time.

it's hard!

and i don't know what to do that doesn't involve money i don't have... and even if i did have the money, there is only so much to do and spend it on everyday. i mean, sheesh!!

how the heck do you do it? what do you do in the summer if you stay home with your kids?? please dear lord, give me ideas and save me.

My kids are younger, so I can still get away with doing things like taking them to the park and the playground. I think yours might be too old for that.

My kids are 8, 6, 4, and 1!! I'm a stay home mom and it is hard to kids this little ones entertained! I'm on a budget too. You need to get creative, google and find ways to build a insect habitat out of things around your house. Make clay from household ingredients, that's a fun one and he can help you. You unfortunately are gonna have to get involved, ugh, I know! Here is a cool site that gives you some free ideas. Get creative.... http://www.destroydebt.com/articles/90-low-cost-or-no-cost-activities-to-entertain-your-kids-all-summer-long.html

Think of stuff you did as a kid. We played old West shoot 'em up games. It was role playing before the days of Dungeons & Dragons. There were the good guys ( the town Sheriff and his deputies) and the bad guys (the bank robbers and cattle thieves). If the good guys were able to take the bad guys alive, there would be a hanging. Kids did eventually lose interest after all the bad guys got hung. This shows that the death penalty is a crime deterent. Role playing is educational.

Is there a community pool close by? Bike rides? Sign him up for a week-long camp for basketball, flag football, etc.?

I have the solution! If you move down here, you can go to the beach. It's fun and free! :)

After this week you are welcome to grab a book, Blake's bat bag and hang out at our house while the boys play a pick up game of baseball at the field. Just a thought. I'm seriousl

Google your city and see what kind of stuff is going on. I know my friends with kids have all sorts of daily things that they do with them around town-

I drink a lot.

But seriously, it sucks. I've gotten to the point where I don't want to do it anymore. I get frustrated trying to play her games and she gets bored easily as well.

I'm really looking forward to both of us starting school again in the fall!

I have recently entered into the "holy crap my kid is at camp and my heart / psyche can't take it" phase. My daughter is at sleep-away camp for another week and then will be spending another 2 weeks with family and friends until I go and meet her in mid-July.
However, my plans for her for the remaining duration of her summer break includes a LOT of babysitting.
If I were home with her, sans employment...it would be movies, rearrange her room, movies, go through old picture albums...and then, yes, more movies.
But seriously, my 14 year old daughter and I have had some great bonding moments when I introduced her to John Hughes movies, when she gamely watched and tried to love Gone With the Wind as I do and when we watched the only season of My So Called Life.
Good Luck!

My kids entertain themselves in the fruit room locked up all day.... hahahah running joke between me and Aaron
seriously when they were much younger than blake they were easy peasy. They enjoyed playing with their stuff and an ocasional neighbor kid would come over. Then in the summer we would go to the pool for a couple hours and they would be tired and napped the rest of the afternoon. When they got to school age we would go to the pool all afternoon. I had daycare much of that time too and would have kids around my kids age. I rarely had to entertain them. It helped that the girl I babysat was Becca BF and the boy ended up being Billy's BF for many yrs.
