let's talk ipods!

i know that i'm still one of the last people on earth without a laptop.. we've already established that.

but did you know that i'm also probably one of the last people on earth who doesn't own an ipod? of any kind. no i-nothing (wait, does that mean i own an i-something?). you see, i never saw the need for one before. i didn't understand just when the hell i'd use the damn thing. i didn't get it.

sometimes my idiocy impresses me.

well after this weekend with my brother... i finally fucking get it. and now i want one. BAD. like yesterday! i want one for the car. i want to have a shitload of music on it, so that i don't have to pick and choose which cd's to bring with me. i want to have them ALL with me!!!!! and i guess i can stop buying cd's right? and i can just buy them online (which i will admit is a really weird concept to me cause i really like having the case and seeing the pictures and reading the thank you's and all that stuff)...

so know i want one. but i know nothing about them. okay, i know a little. should i just get the main one that has the most memory since my main usage for it will be to store TONS.OF. MUSIC? or what?

do help!

and thanks! :)

I am the biggest music junkie on earth. The little iPods are convenient for size, but if you love music and have a ton just buy the Classic. It's bigger, but storage is not a problem I started small and kept having to buy bigger ones for more storage. I ALWAYS have mine on. I plug it into my car stereo when I'm driving, I plug it into my stereo when I'm home. I use it w/earbuds when I workout. Most of the time, however, it's plugged into the stereo or car - no earbuds needed. Once you get one - make yourself a few Smart Playlists (vs. the standard playlists) and you'll be thrilled. Also, email me if you have any questions .... I'd be glad to help you if I can. You will LOVE it!

I don't have one either. :) And, I don't want one. I do think it's pretty cool that come in all those snazzy colors though. Which color are you going to get?

I don't have an iPod (my daughter does), but I do own a Creative Zen. I bought it because the price was good and the screen was big enough for these tired old eyes to see what was playing. My daughter's nano is so small that I have a hard time reading the screen. I know I could have gotten an iPod with a bigger screen but cost was an issue. I've had it a year and I like it. My son has a Samsung product, he had a Dell DJ and an iPod but he likes this one. I use my Zen in the car and in the stereo although Apple has a huge monopoly on accessories that only work with their products.

PS I don't have a laptop either but we are going to get the boy one when he graduates this spring.

I don't have an iPod either. But my husband does, so I guess that counts half cool points?

He has a nano and it's cool, but he could use more space, so definitely go with classic. Personally though, I think the iPod touch is cooler.

We've had a couple different kinds of MP3 players, never an iPod itself. Our Insignia player has worked well. I'd recommend going to Best Buy and just playing around with a few of the display models.

Loved the pics from the work Xmas party on Flickr!

I have an iPod classic 160 gig. And I LOVE it!! I have almost 10,000 songs and I am only using a quarter of my space. At one time I was using half of my space when I had a bunch of movies and season 1 and 2 of It's Always Sunny. and season 1 of The Office on there. Put a kids movie on there and it will make grocery shopping a breeze!! It's way better than one of those full size dvd players. I don't leave home without it. It has it's own pocket in my purse. I hear the iPod touches are nice too, but if you are planning on storing movies and stuff get the big one. OH I almost forgot the best part... you can store pictures on it too so no more carrying around a brag book full! and it has an organizer, alarm clock, and you can also download the album art work so you can still feel like you have the case! I could go on for days about how much I love my iPod.... good luck. OH... get black with a black click wheel if you can. mine is silver with a white click wheel and the wheel always looks dirty. The black ones are way more bad ass!

Just get the touch. Seriously. They keep coming out with new ones and every time I want the new one. So, get the newest and then maybe you'll be ok for awhile. I have the old one that first had videos and I really like it, but would like a touch better. I love it in the car and I like it at work w/ my little speaker system. It's great for car rides too when I'm the passenger and can watch TV shows.

I am an Apple addict. I need help. We have the big one that holds like more songs than I could ever use, for long car rides.

But the new Nano holds like 2 thousand songs and it's possible a good one to start with. Plus they are cute. And you can download a movie or a TV show and watch it on your millions of plane rides down to LA.

I haven't actually seen your website for awhile (google reader) but I really like it! I won an iPod awhile back (only reason I have one) and I still buy the CDs because I too like the cases and such.

I felt the same way, then my husband got me one last Christmas. I was all "thanks a lot, asshole", but I've really grown to love it. I take it everywhere and we often hook it to speakers when we're working on the house.

Oh and I was also the same way about wanting to CD cover and reading the inside and blah, blah. You get over it fast when you can buy a WHOLE CD for 9.99 on iTunes. It's amazing, I tell ya.

I have the classic iPod (I just got it a like 2 years ago and thought I was the last person to get one.) It is the video version. I like it. The newer Nanos with video are cool too. I have the 30 GB one and I'm never going to come close to filling it up.

My 11 year old daughter got one for Christmas and now I too want one. Like you, I didn't realize what the big fuss was, but they are just brilliant.

My husband has the "main one" and loves it. We actually have it sitting in a Bose sound dock in our kitchen, so I love it too! I have a little shuffle that I use strictly for working out. It has a bunch of upbeat and fast music that I can run along with. Let us know what you get!

I have the 160 for the car and walking around ignoring my family.

BUT, if you're gonna work out with it, you need a nano, because they don't skip. The bigger ones skip because they're hard disks. Nanos are flash. So I have a 8 GB nano to run with.

I love those little things. I used to skateboard with a walkman rocking the cassetes. Now I feel like buck rogers.

I don't have one either, I just steal my husband's!

I don't have an ipod. I have a Sandisk Sansa, which is an MP3 & video player. it does the same thing and it's compatible with windows media player. It's also 1/2 the price of an ipod.

I'm sort of anti-ipod. I have no idea why.

So, did you ever get an iPod?
