um, so.. i still don't own an ipod

it's true. i don't have one. boyfriend doesn't have one. we aren't an ipod family.

i'm sure that many of you are freaking out right now.. yelling things at your computer (or at least in your head) like "WHAT?!?! HOW CAN YOU NOT OWN AN IPOD? JENN!! I THOUGHT YOU WERE SOOOO COOL!!!" well maybe the cool part is a bit much after my new kids on the block post the other day.

let me assure you however, i am still the epitome of cool. it just happens. :) but back to this whole ipod bit. i don't even understand when the hell i'd use the damn thing. honestly. when the hell do you ipod loving freaks use yours?? and seriously, the thought of having to upload my cd's to the computer and then get them on my ipod sounds like far more work than i could ever have time for. and what if i buy songs through itunes and then put them on the ipod? well what if i want an entire cd????

i guess i just don't get it. the whole ipod implosion... so maybe you could explain it to me. where do you use your ipod? why should i have one? where the fuck would i use it?

non ipod having cool person- out.

I don't have one either. Chris does, but he uses it when he runs. He also hooks it up to the stereo in his car and listens to it on his way to work. I don't get it either. I understand why kids use them....sitting in the back seat on their way to Grandma's house and not wanting to listen to mom and dad's choice of music, so they put in the headphones and sulk to their own crappy music. :) When I listen to music, I like to share it with everyone around me, so the iPod thing doesn't work for me. Not to mention, I like to hear what's going on around me and with those little earplugs in, that isn't happening.

I fell into the whole ipod craze and got one about a year ago. I never use the headphones. I use it in the car and can hook it up to my stereo there. Oh, and I use it when I need to go on a plane when I am feeling antisocial with those around me. I'm not sure it's been totally worth it with having to DL all of my cd's. I do like being able to buy one song off of iTunes if I don't like the whole album of something.

my friend sent me a whole bunch of music this morning....including some old school NKOTB. it brought back crazy memories for me. and i still remembered every single world to ever single song. sad, really...

I use my ipod when I go go the gym, when I take walks, on planes and in my car (through the radio, when I'm cleaning the house or doing yardwork... I already had all my cd's uploaded on my laptop and I can pick and choose what I want to include on my ipod. I also subscribe to several (free) podcasts that I listen to on my ipod too. I love my ipod! I want to get a video one but my current pink ipod works fine so I can't justify it!

You can buy an entire CD of songs on iTunes. It's usually cheaper than the stores, and you can burn your own CD's - in addition to loading them on your iPod.

I use mine when I'm out taking pictures (it keeps out the distractions) ... or exercising ... or going for a walk ... and sometimes when I am going to sleep at night.

I have one and it is hooked up, most of the time, to my IHome. I get to wake up to all of my favorite songs. I never have to worry about what is going to be on the radio when the alarm goes off.

I have an Ipod, but you're right, it IS a lot of work to download all that music, and to copy all your CD's onto it, and to keep it in order. Sometimes I get stressed out because my Ipod is just one more thing I need to DEAL with!

I don't have an iPod, but I do have an iRiver - same idea, but I bought this one because at the time it was the best one with a voice recorder. I listen to it in the car when carpooling to work, at work, when I'm cleaning, working out, wanting to block out the kids, etc. Mine also does videos and pictures and text so I load my grocery list on it, other lists I need to reference, pictures of the kids, etc.

If I didn't receive one as a gift, I wouldn't have one either. It took me about a month to sit at my computer to set it up & download my CDs. 5 HOURS LATER I was able to "enjoy" it. Now, I mostly use it at work on my laptop.

brother jim will imput this topic..I have 5 ipods and I could live with any less! I have two steros in the house, both have ipods hooked up to them, I have one permanently in the car, I have a shuffle which I use at work or jogging (yeah right...like I do that anymore!)and an Ipod mini which can hold movies and pictures which I use on the occassion when I fly. Ican download a movie onto it and watch it on the plane...that is my imput. and yes it took me around 10 months to load all my cds on the computer, I did it for an hour a day when I felt like it till I was done and then I bought my first ipod!!!

I have to say that I used to be just like you, not getting the whole iPod thing. Then, Adam got one and I fell in love and got my own. My iPod gets me. She knows when I need to hear a song that I haven't even thought about in 3 years. And when I am reminded of a memory, say of rocking out to Bohemian Rhapsody in high school, I have that song with me and can recreate the moment at that very moment. I feel like my iPod knows me and my music needs are important to it. Love it! (<--- total nerd!)

When and where do I use it? Well, always in the car and when I check my email or am working on solo projects for work. Also, I listen to it while I bake or am doing stuff around the house (we have those player things so that you don't have to use the ear buds).

Hubby got me one for Christmas, but I'm still not getting it, either. I use it at the gym so I don't have to listen to those huge guys groaning while they lift weights. But the rest of the time I can't listen to it because it would mean I couldn't hear the kiddo! I don't hook it up in the car because I have all of the songs on CDs. I'm sure I'll one day find a use for it, but until then it sits in my kitchen, waiting for use.

I don't have one either. I use a sandisk sansa, which serves the same purpose and was 50% cheaper.
