so i'm still jenn lastname

because i got my social security card in the mail and they didn't change a thing. no jenn lastname hyphenate new last name. just still jenn lastname.

what in the hell? i mean, i know i was bitching about it changing in the first place, but how do you screw this up? is the social security office that freaking retarded that they can't even change a name correctly? apparently they are.

so now what? am i supposed to go back down there and do the whole process over again? not happening. at least not anytime soon. i totally do not have time for this nonsense and inadequency. when i told boyfriend that they messed it up, he said it was because they don't have me working for them. it's cute how bad ass he thinks i am!

When I changed my last name...they misspelled it on EVERYthing...I never had that problem until I got married.

Is there a number you can call instead of going down there? If so, call and tell them that you already wasted time by going down there and because it's their mistake you refuse to take off work to do it again. And, in your most bad ass voice, tell them they better fix it, pronto.

Jenn, Jenn, Jenn if you only KNEW the uncompetance level at Social Security. I deal with these folks at LEAST once a week as I am a friends advocate.

All I can say is (an have said the same thing to them)I am glad I have a 401 K plan instead of having to rely on Social Security for my income when I reach that point!!!!

Call them......bitch! Make them send you another one, the right one. They are maddening!!

Husband is fond of saying to business people.......I will let you deal with my wife if you don't fix this and you don't want to go there! Hmmmmmmm.......

Don't call me Head on Jill for nothing........

Since birth...I have had two names...my legal name (on my birth certificate and driver's license) and the name on my social security card..they are similar, but the name on my ss card is incorrect...when I was 16 and got a job I thought this would be a problem so I called the Social Security office to see what I'd need to have it changed...

their response was something along the lines of "as long as you use your legal name for work, the name on your social security card doesn't matter..its linked to your legal name anyway...and besides..its not worth the trouble of coming to the office and having to change it..you're better off leaving it the way it is."

Um, hello Jenn? Are you in there? **Knock, knock???**

Uh -- did you expect COMPETENCE from social security? WAKE UP SISTER!

March your happy ass back in there and straighten this shit out. Don't trust those social security people who tell you it doesn't matter -- they don't want to fix it and will lead you astray on purpose.

Now, be sure to make a photo essay on the experience. I love photo essay posts......

/yes, I need a life.

You go get em, Jenn!

While you're at it, can you talk to Ticketmaster? They took $180 of money but didn't give us tickets to a play nor the links nor the pdf file they were supposed to give us. AND can you talk to Quest labs? They took 5 vials of my blood for testing but lost the blood. But charged me anyway! Grrr.

I thik its cute how you still call the hubby "boyfriend." Awww.

Jenn, you called him BOYFRIEND!!! He's your HUSBAND!!! It took me a while for that to stop sounding so strange :)

I'm telling you, the two of you should both change your names to Yourlastname-Hislastname. Why should you be the only one to change just because our patriarchal society says so?

you told them to do it on purpose. i know it. busted!!!!!

I didn't change my last name on my ss card until a few months ago and I have been married almost 8 years.

I would think a phone call should suffice - unless they've also lost your paperwork and can't see that what they were supposed to do.

Ster. I love you. Did you really just use the word 'retarded'? Retardation is a diagnosis, not an adjective. Can the social security office be fucking idiots instead? Please?
