respecting your fellow blogger

means that if you see something on someone's else's blog, and it inspires you to write something on your own blog- or if you blatantly take something you saw on someone's blog (like a video, or a picture, etc)... fucking give the person credit.

when i took the video about beauty, i gave izzy credit because she is who i "stole" the idea from. don't pass off ideas as your own if they were genuinely inspired or blatantly taken from someone else.

i think that in blogland, it's just common courtesy.

Totally. Right on!

Who's stealing from you? Want me to hunt them down for you? Cause my love runs that deep, you know!

It really should go without saying, but thanks for the reminder.

People do this figuring you'll never find out and then they end up looking like an ass.

Who was it? (Email me now!)

YAY for you Ster. I can't stand that crap. **it wasn't me right? You'd tell me right?** ;)

You didn't have your content stolen by Bitacle, did you? 'Cause that sucks.

Good reminder of blog etiquette. I try to be pretty good about linking back. I do have one reader who says I have used 3 of her ideas from her blog...but I only started reading it a few posts ago and I never read her archives. I swear I'm not cribbing! It makes me feel paranoid that she might think I am stealing from her.

You know I've seen bloggers call the person out on their blogs.

BUt is it possible that this person hadn't read you? That they came up with the idea on their own?

Or did they actually use your words as well? Because in that case, you do need to open a can of Whoop-ass!

Jenn -

Wow, you do use the word "fuck" alot, don't you. Ever since Teri brought it up, I see it now.

Using profanity is a sign of no imagination.

I know it can be frustrating...but like Lisa said...maybe they haven't read yours or someone else's etc. The beauty video...the Dove one...has been going around the gamut...sooooo I don't think people can really take credit for that being that it issss a public commercial and everyone will have their opinion, right?
Of course...I did have a person completely COPY and PASTE some of my posts into their blog...but I just shot them an email letting them know...and lo and behold...posts taken down and I have not been "ripped off" since. I would call them out on it privately and then publicly if it doesn't stop...

I've seen that "beauty video" on a shitload of blogs over the last few days...

It should an unwritten rule, but I guess something that needs to be re-visited every now and again...

P.S. I soooo hate "anonymous" comments like the one posted a little while go re: this post... get a life, people! LMAO

People who do steal posts are pathetic. I agree. Giving credit when credit is due is common courtesy in blogland.

(Just came across your blog today, by the way. Very nice here!)

i'm w/stephanie! who's at the top of the hit list? spill the beans!

giving credit is polite and the right thing to do. and MGM is right--it should go without saying.

and jen makes a good point in her comment-- maybe they don't realize they are doing it. UNLESS they are copying and pasting. in which case, it's time to confront.

can you give the benefit of the doubt? i hope so. because we would splatter anyone who messes w/you.
