do you really need an excuse to make fudge?

i didn't think so. well i'm sick so i have nothing good to say except for that i'm about to go back upstairs, crawl into bed, and not wake up until i have to take blake to football practice.

i stumbled across this on izzy's blog today and i want to put it here as well. i think it speaks volumes in a short amount of time. interpret it how you will, but ladies, it's no wonder that our appearance and weight is such an issue with us. scariest part is, i don't see it ever changing.

and now, my sickliness will leave you with a recipe for the easiest fudge in the universe (speaking of weight issues, and not feeling good about our bodies.. LET'S EAT FUDGE!!!).

5 minute fudge!

1 1/2 cups sugar
2 tbsp butter
2/3 cup carnation evaporated milk
1/4 tsp salr
2 cups mini marshmallows
1 1/2 cups morsels (semi sweet, milk chocolate, peanut butter or butterscotch)
1 tsp vanilla

line 8 inch baking pan w/foil. combine sugar, milk, butter and salt in medium sauce pan. bring to a full rolling boil over med heat, stirring constantly for 4-5 minutes. remove from heat. stir in 'mallows, morsels, vanilla until the marshmallows are melted. pour into pan. refridgerate for 2 hours. voila! easiest fudge in the free world!

i also have a kick ass recipe for a cream cheese dessert ball thing (if you like cheesecake you will LOVE this) and some awesome make your own peppermint patties! YAY!

Sorry to hear your not feeling well, sweetie. Take care and get lots of rest!

I love fudge, and that recipe sounds good. You should definitely post the cheesecake ball and peppermint patties recipe when you're feeling better.

That is sick. But, thanks for sharing - if only to make me feel a little bit more normal.

Sorry Jenn, but I have to share based on the weight and beauty remark in your blog....

Heard at the kitchen table from my dear son as he is doing his homework. I said something about Jenn and my dear son came over to me, put his arms around me and said, and I quote, "You would have to be prettier and skinnier to be like Jenn mom". Bless his little heart, the child's lucky he wasn't grounded until he was eighteen after that one!!!! Yes, I already shared it with Jenn and yes, if you can't tell, my son adores Jenn.

Awwww...take care of yourself, mama.

I will try the fudge at Christmastime. Anything with that few ingredients has to be awesome :)

Re: the video's message, I think things will change when people have finally had enough, kind of like the super-skinny models thing happening right now. I think we will eventually see healthier bodies being embraced, which is better than nothing.

Did you watch the Barbie Girl one I linked to? It was so gross it made me cry.

Yummmm fudge. I made brownies with the kids last night and I may have to post a recipe too. ;)

I hope you feel better. Oh and it's never a bad time for fudge.

SO interesting to watch that after my recent epiphany. The sooner we all learn to love ourselves for exactly who we are every single day, the better. With the ability to love oneself comes the ability to not judge others for their actions OR appearance. How can one instill self love and good body image in her daughter, if one can't resist the urge to meanly point and laugh at another person? Can't we all just get along?? ;-)

Sweet!

(couldn't resist)

Yummy, the fudge sounds GOOOOOD! :) I plan on making it and then pretending like I slaved over it the whole day. :) Thanks! And, I want the peppermint patty recipe too, please!

Wow, that video was powerful and something all women should see. I hope you feel better and I curse you for giving me yet another reason to indulge in something low fat right before the holidays. Like I don't have enough to eat with the bag of candy I buy for the trick-or-treaters and then eat all.by.myself.

Get better soon!

I am lucky, kinda - fudge is one of the few fattening things I do not like.

How much is a cup? I don't believe I've ever measured anything in cups. Is it an actual cupful and if so how does this compare to a mug?

I'm not joking.

I can't believe that video! I'm SO showing that to my eleven year old daughter. Thanks for sharing!
