Seriously. I found myself completely transfixed this morning, yet heard noone speak of it all day...I don't think my fellow students watch the news:(

You know, with elections coming up, it's just another Republican ploy to have us all scared shitless, and to remember how safe we are with Bush. Yeah, uh-huh.

I am with Alison. I think it is a ploy.

Alison and Melissa apparently are fucking retarded. I have some aluminum foil hats that you can have, dumb twits. I'm not one for the government leadership right now, but to say it is a ploy shows your ignorance.

No, we don't need a reminder. Makes me sad that things like this have and could happen. :(

Apparently I am fucking retarded.

A-fucking-men, Jennster.

As for the meanie in the group, Jennifer, I'm positive there is a more sophisticated way to express your disagreement with another poster.

Unless, no? "Dumb twits" and the oh-so-enlightened, "fucking retarded," comprise your grande finale? Well, then.

This is Jennster's blog and she's always so positive about everything, so it's not fair that we've turned this whole thing into something negative. I apologize if I offended anyone with my comment. I'm really not all that political, believe it or not. :)

jennifer- while it's cool you read my blog, it's not fucking cool, at all, that you call my friends "fucking retarded."

i totally understand that this topic brings up STRONG emotions in people- from every angle and aspect- but i don't appreciate the name calling. the only person who can call people names here is me.. and it's usually whore or slut, and it usually makes them cry.

Part of me wants to think it's a ploy, but the other part of me wants to take it seriously.

Adam and I are actually flying to Baltimore on the 8th and I'm coming home on the 11th, so when I planned this trip I obviously wasn't worried, but now my thoughts range from "It'll all be fine," to "What was I thinking?!?!?!"

Considering that a long-range missle was fired at California a few short weeks ago, no, I didn't need the reminder.

Whatever your politics are (and yeah, part of me is skeptical, but that's just my personal feelings about the politicians involved) it's important to stay aware and guarded. I don't think anyone is saying to screw safety because of what political party they are coming from. At least, that's not the vibe I got from Alison and Melissa.

(What a way to delurk, to be all political at 9am before coffee!)

I am not sure I understand this post. Is there a word missing or something?

this is classic ( i <3 you Jen )

Some of these remarks are typical. You can't win some of these battles....ever.

If we catch them in the process of an attack, some become skeptics (conspiracy theorists) and question the whole ordeal. "It's just another Republican lie..."

BUT

If we DON'T halt an attack, fingers are they pointed, names are called, and it's all because we didn't do enough.

To the people involved in the arrest of the men in the UK as well as Pakistan, I say GREAT FUCKING WORK.

carry on

With an Airport Firefighter for a husband, I will never forget. And nobody else should either, even if there isn't a movie made about it. We are living the history here and I hope that we are all aware of that and embrace the lives we've made for ourselves! You said a lot in few words Jennster, thank you!

Its amazing how much we as Americans do forget. I have heard all the snarky comments going around. People dont want their lives interrupted and they especially dont want to be pulled out of their comfort zones.

I saw a few interviews with frustrated passengers who were pissed because they had to throw away $65 dollars worth of makeup and thought this everything they were going through was unfair and inhumane.

Hmm, I wonder if all the thousands of people who were tragically lost in the 9-11 attacks could say something to those women, what they would say? I still recall the jumpers from the WTC and seeing images of people dangling from thousands of feet up in the air. A ploy? Trying to scare us shitless?

I am sorry but WTF is wrong with people???

Jennster's post was a bit vague, but it seems clear now that it was posted in response to what happened in England. I'm not sure all of the commentors were on the same page.

Taken as a general statement, it is entirely plausible to believe that Republicans stand to win politically in November if there are reminders of 9/11. In fact, that has been the crux of their campaign strategy since 9/11. In this respect, Alison and Melissa aren't too far off the mark.

Taken as a specific comment in relation to recent events, of course there was no conspiracy on the part of Republicans to orchestrate an event the scale of 9/11. I really don't think Alison and Melissa were commenting about the recent foiled bomb plot (at least I hope not).

Ummm...yeah. I didn't need a reminder.
