the things you never got for xmas

but always wanted. you know, back when you made lists and it was always on there, year after year? #1 for me was always, without fail, a horse. who cares that i didn't a place to keep one? who thinks about those technicalities when you're a kid?! i would have shared my bedroom with the damn thing had my parents let me! i don't see a problem here. food? yeah yeah.. we have grass in the backyard. eat up horsie.

I would have settled for a damn Cabbage Patch Doll but my dad refused to spend $50 on a doll...even though it was number one on my list for years and I begged and pleaded and even "babysat" the neighborhood girls' Cabbage Patch Dolls because they felt sorry for me. So he finally broke down and bought me an imposter...some Garden Child thing that made the whole situation even worse. I'm telling you, I'm scarred for life. Just buy your kids what they want for Christmas, especially if it's only $50, dammit!!!!!!!

I wanted a monkey so my parents bought me a stuffed one. So not the same! I mean, I was only, like, 4yo but I wasn't stupid. But he had cool red corduroy overalls and a yellow shirt but he wasn't real...sigh.

You had a Cabbage Patch Doll, Jenn. I saw it once. And ever since then, I've been so envious.....perhaps I could babysit it?

I wanted an easy bake oven. My Mom and I were shopping the other day and I asked her why I never got one. She said she never knew that I wanted one. Santa forgot to tell her, I guess.
